Butterfly creations...?!

I am a recent adict to the website pinterest.com. When Geoff has late night meetings I often spend/waste/kill time browsing this site. I've pinned so many fun things I'd love to do one day. I came across this idea http://www.lucydesignsonline.com/2011/03/dragonflies-part-2.html and thought it would be do-able for decor on the backyard fence. Well today was the day it got done. The kids and I ventured out to Abbotsford in hopes to play at the new play nation (for the second time). The rates were only a $2 admission with free hotdogs and drinks... and lets face it I'm dutch and headed straight for the deal... or not. There was a line up and I can't handle caotic places like that with 150 loud children. I go crazy at home already with 3 who needs a headache like that... anyways, I was supposed to meet up with friends but we had terrible communication so I left and went across the road to Restore/Habitat for Humanity. I love that store! I picked up some beautiful tile for the bathroom backsplash and found supplies to make my butterflies. I came home and put A and A to bed and Geoff was home to watch Camron a second and I ran out to get spray paint. I wanted something fun and bright. Anyways... here's the pictures of my wierd looking butterflies. Geoff doesn't really like them but who needs his opinion anyways :D

It took 4 coats to get a nice deep colour.
These 2 play so well together outside... if only they could do that inside too! They found worms in the gravel. Camron was wondering if they have tv's in their house. Not sure where he got that funny idea.

Sunshine at White Rock

Geoff had Saturday after morning chores off and we were done with the rain and packed up the van with a lunch and the kids of course and headed off to White Rock. We found sunshine!! It started off very windy but after an hour or so it died down and we enjoyed sitting next to the ocean taking in the rays and the sights. What more could you want on a day off.
We walked the pier taking in the smell of salt water. Camron was a little nervous
walking over water... he was afraid sharks would eat him.
It took a bit of coaxing to get them to walk over the planks, Alivia especially.
                                                               Our sweet daddy's girl.
We forgot our camera and video camera which was a real bummer but Geoff's phone took pretty good pictures... but we forgot to take a few shots of him in his fedora hat. Sorry babe! Afterwards we checked out White Rock's downtown area and reminisced together the last time we were here. Camron was born at the Peace Arch Hospital... a whole hour drive away from home. He felt pretty special to be born this close to the ocean. Hope you make memories with your family on your next day off :)

Playdough and Rainy Days

I don't know about anyone else in the fraser valley but I'd love to see some more sunshine in these quarters! I don't normally complain about rain but I am starting to miss going for walks with the kids and playing outside. This past week we went to Go Bananas and U-Play in Abbotsford but those can add up fast! Today we decided to make playdough for a rainy day activity. Here's the recipe...

Playdough!
3 cups flour
1 cup salt
6 tsp cream of tartar
3 cups water
3 tbsp oil
food colouring
Mix flour, salt, cream of tartar in saucepan. Blend water and oil together in bowl. Add to saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring contantly till it thickens. Cook and stir for 5 mins until you honetly can't stir anymore! Take out of pan and knead on surface adding extra flour if needed. Divide into even balls and colour with food coloring. I use professional cake colouring but you can use the liquid too just might have to add extra flour to it. Can last for months and you know what is in it in case they eat it :)

Cathedral Pillow

I first seen this pillow design on pinterest and loved the look and art of it. I found a really awesome tutorial for it and I had some white fabric in my stash and away I went on it. I love it!! I want to make one more to match it. Here's the slow motion of the project.

Spring has sprung!?

I love the fresh smell of spring and the idea of getting more sunshine and being out in the garden again... but definatly not after seeing how much catching up I have to do around the yard! Last year I layed low due to being pregnant and too uncomfortable with the heat but this year I really have no excuses. I got out in the yard with the whole family yesterday afternoon and again all day today. Geoff went crazy on our big trees and that meant lots of trips to the burning pile... 4 FULL loads and a few more yet. Feels good to have a nice looking yard ready for sunshine but boy does my back ache :S
On the kids note Abigail has been the next victim of cold/flu season. She's just miserable with a stuffy nose, ear aches and congested chest. I hope this cold gets kicked out the door fast before someone else starts coughing.
Another night Camron had a hard time falling asleep... we took his toys away, had all his lights off and he still wouldn't sleep... a little while later he came upstairs dressed with all of his shirts on... all 12 of them! ( I didn't know he had that many shirts) We still have to work on the sleeping issue.... but we sure had a good laugh.

A typical Alivia look with her favorite blanket and dolly!
Abigail loves sitting upright in her swing watching A & C play.

Sneak Preview

I've been working on Camron's room a little and working on his bedroom quilt. Its a work in progress. A few weeks ago I painting circles in his bedroom. I love how they turned out!

Some nights it can takes Camron hours to fall asleep. He has a hard time winding down some nights. Before we go to bed we check on him and turn off all the lights. This is how I found him sleeping. All his toys lined up in a row, what a goof!

A Birthday Gift

Basting it together on the kitchen floor. Just fit!
I bought this fabric online a few years back and made a few things for my m-i-l for birthday's and mothers day with some of the prints. After Christmas I was tired of seeing boxes piled on my sewing desk so I got to work and finished this quilt up. I love how it turned out! Its large enough for a queen sized bed and perfect for a couch to snuggle under.
Back Side of Quilt
We packaged it up and gave it to my m-i-l for her birthday. I get to see if often too!
